The Latest news....2009 was a good year for the Hispanic Ministries! We saw two new Bible studies begin at Brushy Creek and Berea Heights. Carlos Ruiz and his wife, Flor Maria, lead the group at Brushy Creek and Ernesto Chaparro and his wife, Marcela, lead the group at Berea Heights. The first Sunday in December at Brushy Creek there was a joint service with the ordinances celebrated in English and Spanish. Two members were baptized into the Hispanic Mission.
The Hispanic group at Berea Heights are planning a joint service soon. The mission there had approximately 30 in attendance Dec. 13. I thank God for all the good things He is doing in the Hispanic community. Even though the economic crisis has had its negative effect, one positive aspect is that many have turned to God and are more receptive. One of the ways we have reached out to the Hispanics was helping provide Christmas gifts to the children of sixteen families (50+ children) and also food for the families. Thanks to all who helped! We still face various difficulties in ministering to the Hispanic community and ask that you pray with us about the following: immigration, transient families, employment, fear, etc. We need your prayers for wisdom as well as resources to minister more effectively.
Feliz Navedad y prospero Ano Nuevo,
Dan Messer
