Disaster Relief
The Association has a Mud Out Disaster Relief Unit. We work in cooperation with the South Carolina Baptist Convention and American Red Cross when responding to a disaster situation. Volunteers must be trained to work with the unit. Training is available through the GBA as well as SCBC. The unit was used extensively following Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast. We have also had teams in Pennsylvania as well as internationally in Sri Lanka and Peru.We are also involved on a local level with VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) to better prepare our own churches and agencies in the event of a local disaster.To learn more about how you can be involved in Disaster Relief, contact Joel Thrasher at 864-242-4330 or jthrasher@greenvillebaptist.org.
